December 12, 2023After work, Zhang Kai, a resident from Rizhao, a city of East China's Shandong Province, rushed to the Party-building service center in Xinxing Residential Community to attend a family education lecture.
The center was crowded with many people like Zhang from nearby neighborhoods. Zhu Shiyong, an expert on family education, was giving a lecture on education of love.
The lecture was part of the Sunshine Family Education Classroom, a program launched by the residential community. It regularly invites professionals to give lectures on family education and scientific philosophies and approaches, and promotes the healthy growth of both parents and their children.
Zhang said that the lectures have benefited them and helped them grasp a deep understanding of the rules of children's growth and better communication with kids at home.
The Sunshine Family Education Classroom is designed to fully leverage the resources and strengths of parent schools and volunteers, hold various types of interactive activities, strengthen moral education of the minors, foster virtue through education, and further optimize talent cultivation with the concerted efforts of schools, families and society.
During the past few years, Rizhao has reinforced its efforts toward forstering stronger family ties, values and traditions, given priorities to the Sunshine Family Education Classroom program and family education guidance services in its annual development agenda. It has allocated an annual fund of 550,000 yuan (US $76,388) to finance family education guidance services.
Rizhao Women's Federation has developed a 13-episode family education training class and held four sessions of training programs related to the early development of children and family education for backbone teachers in collaboration with 177 volunteers.
Since 2022, Rizhao has organized over 300 rounds of family education-oriented public welfare classes in government departments, schools, enterprises and residential communities. It has also held 30 online sessions of the Sunshine Family Education Classroom, built 20 community-level demonstration parent schools for family education, and organized 340 parent-child reading activities to promote the popularity of scientific family education concepts, benefiting over 200,000 people.
Additionally, Rizhao has founded a volunteer team of 869 women, and the women have built a partnership with 1,413 disadvantaged children, paying regular home visits to the children and spreading love and warmth among them.
Moreover, the women volunteers have brought family education public welfare classes to residential communities, government departments and campuses, helped build parent schools, and made full use of children's early development service centers in the dissemination of scientific family education philosophies and the improvement of family education guidance services.
